here's my two minutes again... am waiting for tim on the phone to someone to get a wedding invitation address before we go pick up my ring, which is back from sizing! am loving this... but my even more exciting news of the week is that i got a job offer from geneva yesterday. i had been very nicely pestering them about a job, and the latest i had heard was that i'd hear in september or october when the business plan for the upcoming year was done, since i wouldn't start working for them full time until january or february of next year (after we get back from the field semester and graduate from school)... and then i mentioned to my boss that we were considering peace corps, since nothing was certain yet on either of our parts for next year, and within two days i had an offer on the table! we haven't gotten as far as a contract yet, but i've been given the choice of three different positions to take - one of which is at a management level! (sometimes i think these people don't know i'm only 21). cool stuff. choice a: consider creating an knowledge management system, like i am now, but with it written into the contract that as soon as the creating is over the maintaining begins, i'd transition into something else, choice b: full time research analyst, writing delta reports, and choice c: a portfolio manager - a new position that would be fairly high up there in the ranks - dealing with the clients/donors (who give millions to the company) and with the researchers at the same time, specializing in a specific area (currently they're hiring for indonesia and for AIDS, and human trafficking - which i'm very interested in - is on the horizon, but others will come after that too)... or if i wanted, i could start in either a or b and transition into c... the pay is pretty good too, which is nice. we should be able to pay off both our student loans within 2-3 years with no problem. was definitely NOT expecting to walk into a job that actually paid decently that was actually something i wanted to do when i left college... this is all so cool. it feels so good to have something nailed down... well, he's off the phone!
